SMARA Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order by President Mike KB2VQS, present were James N2UZQ, Tim WA2QAC, Becky KC2BYZ, and April. Motion made to accept February Minutes, Minutes accepted by all board members.

Repeater Fund $222.00

Total $1791.65

$16.41 paid to Mike KB2VQS – parts for shelving in Radio Room. Sealer for Radio Room.

Radio Room Report
Radio Room Officer Mike KB2VQS reported the following:

On Thursday March 6, 2008 I received a call from the Museum. Mal N2QFD reported a water problem in the radio room. Mal and museum maintenance got control of the water situation before any equipment was damaged. I went to the museum and spoke with the staff and acquired shelves and permission to seal the room. I returned on Saturday and spent 7 ½ hours removing equipment, sealing cracks, and assisting with the shelves. I would like to thank Becky KC2BYZ, James N2UZQ, Ivan KC2NXC and April for their help and support. I returned to the Museum on Sunday and found a small amount of water on the floor. Another 45 minutes of clean up time and all was back to normal. The radio room is back in service, with the Eqso station up and running once again.

Board discussed Field Day 2008. Next Field Day meeting to be announced. Contact our Field Day Chairman James N2UZQ at n2uzq@hotmail.com if you are interested in assisting with Field Day. This coming Saturday March 15, 2008 at 2:30 pm we will be going to the Field Day site to lay out plans for equipment and antenna placement. If you are interested in attending please contact James or you can give us a call on the club repeater. Discussed purchase of ARRL Field Day T-shirts to be given to members who help at Field Day or operate. Discussed food donations by Price Chopper, Hannaford and BJ's. April to draft letter.

Radio Room Officer Position has become available. If you are interested in the position contact Mike KB2VQS at kb2vqs@yahoo.com this position is ideal for someone with a lot of time on their hands. This position would require you to work closely with the museum staff and maintenance personal. You would report directly to the SMARA board. You would be responsible for the proper operation of the club station and would work closely with the W2IR station trustee. You would train all new members wishing access to the radio room and would recommend such access to the board. You would be responsible for submitting any changes to the access policies regarding radio room access by members and you would submit changes and recommendations to the board and to the museum liaison you would maintain the access log book and would keep the photo id sheets up to date. You would be responsible for the general cleanup and maintenance of the room and would make yourself available to respond to the museum if a problem occurred, and would make a report to the board and the association. Any member in good standing may apply for this position.

Formation of a Kids Club was discussed and possible starting target date would be the next Kids Day event at the museum which is this summer.

Food theme for the social meeting will be Beef Stew. Member are encouraged to bring deserts. We will continue to construct the receiver kit. We will also be testing our coax supply for Field Day.
