SMARA Board Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order by President Mike KB2VQS present were President Mike KB2VQS, Vice President James N2UZQ, Treasurer Tim WA2QAC, and April (Secretary) and Becky KC2BYZ, Motion made to accept May Minutes, the minutes were accepted by all board members.

Radio Room Report

James made motion to make Dan Miller KC2VEX Radio Room Officer Second by Tim. Board Approved this Motion.

Report from Dan Miller:
May was a busy month, full of transitions.
Mike KB2VQS, Darren K1DFJ, Tim WA2QAC and several others reconfigured the Radio Room, which included moving the large consoles, removing a spare desk and cleaning up the shack. The radios and computers are now in a much neater and operator friendly arrangement.
Approximately 29 Club members signed in this month, the majority during the club meeting.
Mike, KB2VQS arranged and promoted a Radio Room training class, which took place in the hour before the SMARA business meeting, with several new members receiving training on the Room procedures.
Finally, Dan KC2VEX has assumed the duties of Radio Room Officer for SMARA.
Those People who missed the mandatory training to use the Radio room will need to contact Dan Miller at danomedia@yahoo.com to set up a time to be trained.

Board discussed the following:

• No new updates on 440 repeater. The repeater is down, pending repair. Barry states it has been fried. Tony said that he might know someone who can give us a new 440 repeater.

Coming SMARA Events for the New Year are as follows:

• T-shirts that were ordered, a few came in we are waiting for the rest to be delivered.
• The Town of Rotterdam has been contacted for the use of the field day site. A letter will be going out this week to confirm.
• Field day meeting will be June 20th at that the Museum in Studio 3 at 1 pm. Please don't be late.
• We have 17 people that have confirmed they will be helping out at Field day.
• IF ANY ONE WANTS TO COME HELP OUT ON FIELD DAY EITHER TO SET UP, TAKE DOWN OR OPERATE PLEASE LET DENISE OR ANY BOARD MEMBER SO WE CAN PUT YOU ON THE LIST SO THERE WILL BE ENOUGH FOOD.
• 6:00 PM ON FRIDAY JUNE 26TH AT THE MUSEUM TO HELP LOAD THE TRUCKS WITH EQUIPMENT. Please contact Mike kb2vqs@yahoo.com to let him know you will be there.
• 6:00 AM Sharp Saturday June 27th at Kiwanis Park to help set up. Club will have coffee and donuts there for all helpers. This is a must we can't have without you. Field day starts at 2:00pm.
• 12 noon on June 28th is take down. Please come help so we can all get home at a reasonable hour.

June 18th is the next Business/social meeting we will be having Coffee and Dessert. Everyone who wishes to participate can bring soda and Ice or you can add to the TIP JAR.

Club Picnic will be August 1st at Fire Station #2 Shaker Loudonville. Details to follow next month.
