SMARA Board Meeting Minutes

Present were President JJ MacMurray (N2UZQ), Vice-President Dan Miller (KC2VEX), Secretary David Stark (NF2G), Treasurer April Chinski (KC2VWW), Trustee Tony Pazzola (W2BEJ).
Meeting called to order at 20:44 by President.
The next Board meeting is scheduled for Friday, January 1. It will be held at Denny's Restaurant, 114 Wolf Road in Colonie at 8:00 P.M. (20:00).
OLD BUSINESS:
Treasurer's report read by April Chinski.

Minutes of November General Meeting summarized by David Stark.
Deferred by members to BoDBased on time spent at this meeting, Antenna work and meeting programs are the most important items to the membership.
- $25.00 requested for radio room work by Mike Maloy
- Program issue: Arrangements for January Red Cross training and alternate program for other members
- Member of BoD requested to attend Leonard Communications inspection of museum roof antennas on Saturday, December 5
- Dues increase tabled
Club Station antenna work
John (N2OJY) of Leonard Communications quoted $85/hour/worker plus parts Dan Miller to contact Todd Holmes (c/s not recorded) of Comm Tech and Kevin Krone (KB2DGA) of Capital Digitronics for quotes
Museum
Discussion of club-related "curator" position. Broughton Foundation paid a club member $200/month to act as liaison. As far as the Board knows, there has been no Curator for the past 7 years. Where has that estimated $16,800 gone? JJ to write letter to the Foundation inquiring.
Program
Members voted as follows for program topics at the General Meeting: Digital communications, including APRS = 14 Image communications, including SSTV and FSTV = 8 Top vote-getter as a combined "Digital" category. Emergency communications for new hams = 20 HF Antennas = 16 Satellite communications = 14 MARS = 13 Contesting =12 December meeting will be annual Christmas Party - food is pot luck. January meeting will be Red Cross Introduction to Disaster Services for members who want/need certification. David Stark to work with Chris on alternative activity for other members.
Committees
David Stark has sign up list and will distribute names to Board via email. April Chinski & Tony Pazzola to identify members in arrears so April can write letters to them. April will chair the Refreshments Committee, to include Craig (W2XAD), Nicole, and Deb.
NEW BUSINESS
Club photographer
We need someone to be reliably available to take photos of club events and meetings and to post them to our website.
Upcoming events from Tony Pazzola
- Skywarn Recognition Day December 5 UTC - not enough notice for a formal Club activity, but members to be invited to participate.
- Albany Winterfest December 19 - operators needed for two short races.
- JJ to post both events to website.
